Phones

Well, as several people already know, I am thinking of getting a new cell phone. My current cell is an old LG (in its defense its probably only about 3-4 years old) that still spouts nonsense about being a Cingular phone (don't ask me why, it just doesn't seem to get the fact that the name was changed, even with the update).

Right now I'm looking at three phones in particular to replace my old one, the 16GB Apple iPhone, the Pantech Duo, and the AT&T Tilt. What I'm looking for right now is a phone that is bluetooth capable, has access to a good data plan or Wi-Fi, a good camera, and some form of QWERTY keyboard. There are of course pros and cons to all of these choices but only one can win, there's no way I could afford all three, let alone anything more than an iPhone!

Ahh...the iPhone. Sleek, simplistic, slender...and really really expensive! The iPhone is a work of art that seems to just keep getting better and better with every update. It boasts a 2 MP camera, Wi-Fi connectivity way ahead of its time, tons of storage for web apps and music, the essential bluetooth, and its out of this world touch screen with accelerometer. There are very few things wrong with the iPhone, save for its inability to access enterprise networks (which will be fixed in the June update), and the more troubling issues of a highly sensitive QWERTY display and the iPhone's peg leg, AT&T's Edge network. With both of those problems I think I might be better off waiting for the iPhone 2.0 to come out...

This baby here is the AT&T Tilt. It is pretty much the pinnacle of cell phone technology with a 3 MP camera, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity (which you can hook your laptop up to for surfing on a trip), Bluetooth, a QWERTY board that you can adjust the screen to, and best of all it is about half the price of the iPhone. This phone really has only a few things that hurt it, no iTunes, lack of memory (which is expandable), short battery life, and of course "THE THING IS A BRICK"!!!
Last on the list is the Pantech Duo, a duel way slider phone (I still don't get how they managed to make this one work). The Duo has a basic 1.3 MP camera, access to AT&T's blazing fast 3G network, bluetooth (...duh), and both a regular number pad and a QWERTY board. This phone screams cool and compact but lags a little when compared to the Tilt. As with the Tilt though, it does lack a decent sized base memory, but it does seem to have a better battery life (if your not talking on it for some reason...) and it is sooooo much smaller than the Tilt (plus it's the cheapest of the three).

Overall, all of these phones are amazing, but only one can be Alex's "Next Top Phone"!
